“Practicum Script offers continuous and accessible updating, especially for those living far”

DR. NÉSTOR RISOGLIO

Interventional cardiologist at Cemep Río Grande Clinic in Tierra del Fuego (Argentina)

Dr. Néstor Risoglio is an interventional cardiologist at Cemep Río Grande Clinic in Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) and a well-established professional in Hemodynamics and Hematology. In 2007, he performed the first programmed hemodynamic intervention in a cardiac patient at a public hospital. A few years later, he suffered a stroke, but that did not keep him away from his professional practice. His calling has always driven him to give his best, and taking the Practicum Script course is proof of that. Regarding the clinical simulation tool, he believes that it offers "continuous and accessible updating."

Madrid, June 4, 2019. According to the WHO, countries with higher income are reversing the trend of CVDs as the first cause of mortality, and a 25% decrease in premature deaths due to this type of disease is expected by 2025. However, the trend in less developed countries is toward increased deaths due to myocardial infarction and stroke...

I think Argentina is trying to lower [the country’s] mortality rates. Thanks, for example, to scientific support, like the one you offered us, especially for those who find it difficult to travel to meetings, since we are 3500 km away from Buenos Aires.

What does Practicum Script provide as a tool for continuous professional development in this context?

Continuous and accessible updating for those who live far.

Have you found these 30 cases of Practicum Script useful for your care practice in Tierra del Fuego? Can you comment on any especially meaningful case?

Yes, they have been of great help, and all cases have contributed with some learning to be applied in daily practice. On the other hand, it is not usual for a public hospital in Argentina to have a hemodynamics unit. This is normal in developed countries, but here, we have to fight against the current, as we do with everything else.

You know that debate and uncertainty are the basis of our approach. How do you deal with dilemmatic situations?

We have an intensive care team and we discuss the patients’ cases daily.

Can a physician be trained to become an expert?

Yes, I think this is possible, especially if working as a team and, fortunately, we have that.

Why betting on Practicum Script?

Because it is accessible, and we need it.

Testimonies

For me, the program is very interesting, since it allows me to sharpen my interrogation and direct it more towards a specific pathology and to have more knowledge of laboratory and cabinet exams. I think it is very important that we keep our medical sagacity throughout our practice and that in the few minutes it takes to answer any of the cases that Practicum Script presents, you acquire more knowledge.

Dr. Miguel Olivares Alcocer

Pediatrician in Guanajuato (Mexico)

I would like to express my gratitude to the Practicum Institute of Health Sciences Research for the opportunity given to Latin American physicians  to access and take different courses of our specialty for the benefit of our dear patients, in my case in Mexico. It has encouraged me to improve myself and keep abreast of the advances in Pediatrics and put into practice the knowledge acquired in the hospital where I work. Thanks friends and congratulations to this valuable team of Practicum Script Education.

Dr. Heriberto Fuentes García

Pediatrician in Sonora (Mexico)

I am grateful for this study tool that, through Nestlé and with this method, allows us to review different issues with cases that confront us in decision-making and serve us in the daily consultation.

Dr. Josué Refugio de León Padilla

Pediatrician in Jalisco (Mexico)

It is an excellent educational support platform for the pediatrician, offers very specific clinical challenges with alternatives for diagnosis and differential diagnoses, with the support of experts, a bibliography and a forum to share opinions. It's easy to navigate and it's fun, a tool that's worth using and making the most of it.
